I have used HRB for years, since switching to another program seems cumbersome. Most reviews indicate difficultly with maintaining accuracy during conversion. That being said, HRB disappoints with failure to import previous years depreciation entries. Always requires checking last year’s return before input of current year depreciation. (Yrs of item depreciation do transfer) but not details. State program has always been mediocre. Many items require off line calculations and/or forms. HRB you need to up your game on State filing, better importing, detailed instruction, and explanations.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this via subscription last year, and when I sought to download it, I couldn't, requiring me to go through a long process of proving to HRBlock that I had actually paid for it. After several lengthy tries, HRBlock finally admitted that I had a valid, paid subscription, and allowed me to download the program.
In using the program, I found that it didn't have a competent process of entering information from my Schedule C, and there was no interview or step-by-step procedure for entering the information, or matching the entries to the line items on my schedule C.
The rets of the program was easy to use, but for business income and deductions from Sch. C, it was poorly structured and difficult to use.
Next year I won't be subscribing, but buying it as a stand-alone, and hopefully, they will have upgraded the Sch. C entry portion, and I won't have the same difficulty I had this year.
Cons: Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

HR Block Tax software was hands down better than their major competitor. Had to switch half way through my tax preparation to HR Block because I was so frustrated with the other guy. HR Block is easy to use, great guides and always updated regularly.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Easy to use. I had only one problem that the software did not help me answer. Please tell your programmers to include help in answering a question on form 8283, the software asked me to choose if my noncash charitable contributions were in one of 5 categories. I did not understand any of the 5 categories and could not find any help in your program or online. The categories were related to percentages of capital gains, etc.
Cons: Time consuming

HR Block Premium software ask too many questions that it should already know. Help features not nearly as good as TurboTax. HR Block software doesn't make it easy to do what-ifs. Sometimes it autosaves when you are trying to test out options. I probably plan to go to TurboTax next year
