I started buying the software over 5 years ago instead of the competitors. The price was and still is the least expensive, although the last couple of years it has started to bump up in price, despite no apparent major changes. Still easy to use and understand.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Previous Year Data Transfer Glitch - Donations Pg.

I have been using H&R Block Premium for about 10 years now. Overall it functions well but I almost always have problems at the very end, after the data review. Most of those issues appear to be caused by the transfer of the previous year's data. e.g. this time it transferred 5 of my 2023 donations to Goodwill. I deleted them as I progressed through the software but error codes continued to block my ability to file the Fed & state returns. I resolved this by completely deleting the non-cash donation forms and re-entering my data.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The federal package does not go deep enough, several items that I was trying to take advantage of had little explanation and I needed to do what I thought was right, there was little guidance. Information on rental income did not port over to the state program and once again the guidelines for state rental income was lacking. When I had to introduce a second state there was no interaction between the state programs and the federal program.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
