I was able to use the HR Block desktop software to file my return successfully. Following is feedback on some issues that could be improved.
Printing
I just e-filed my federal return, then tried to print to PDF. I selected Filing on Paper -> home. All it would let me print is the state return!
IRS PIN
Won’t allow entering the IRS supplied 6digit pin number

Why don’t you fill in the correct amount instead of asking me to type in what has already been calculated?

I’ve been asked to re-enter my social security numbers on forms after it was already entered as part of the initial setup for the tax return.
Feedback form not in menu
The HR Block desktop software has a feedback form buried in the dialog for filing a return. I was not ready to use it at the time, so I figured I’d go back to it. I couldn’t find it! It would be helpful to have it on the menu.

Usually Great, but a fall pff this year.

I have stuck with H&R Block for a years now and I am generally pretty happy with the software. There rarely is any improvement and it seems to be the same cookie cut program with a different year every year. No new features but it works and is usually reliable. This year though, there was a problem with energy efficient improvements to your main home that had a glitch that could not be circumvented. Now I still think evefy other product is inferior to H&R Block but it was maddening. Will still order it for next year though. Hopefully some new fearures and it back to being smooth is in the cards.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Been using the Deluxe program for self employed for 15+ years. The last two years it wouldn’t down load the free state program and it had to purchase it through the program . It still didn’t download so I purchased again directly from the website and still didn’t download. So I purchase the state program 4 times and still had to do my taxes the old way on paper. Won’t be using it again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
