I've been using H&R Block's so-called Premium tax software to prepare and file my returns for as long as I can remember. It gets the job done and it's fairly flexible, but it needs to be more focused on a user-friendly experience. I like that it asks more questions about my taxes than even their seasons tax consultants in their office would do. And it's not hard to answer most of the questions and get things prepared. On the other hand, it only updates once a week, so if it needs to wait for tax laws to be updated, you may be waiting a while before you can file. And if you happen to use their Nebraska tax return product and live in Lincoln, a city of 300,000 people, good luck e-filing your state return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Been using this software for ten years with no issues from Federal, State or local. As I mentioned, it’s easy to work through, skip then come back to an item later, easy.
I always use H&R Block software for my taxes. But the 2023 software made me wait for software updates to finish my taxes. It was well into March before I could complete them. This may be caused by our government not getting them the information, but that was not communicated.
When I do the final check it asks for an explanation of a certain amount of money. Generally, I look around and find out it comes from an IRA contribution. It would be helpful if the program identified the answer to this discrepancy.
