I used HR block for 2023 taxes. Updated before final and before sending in April 2024. Submitted my taxes. Just got a bill from IRS for wrong tax penalty that your program produced. Now I’m paying more. Maybe I switch to Turbo tax next year. Not that you will even care.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund

Pretty good overall. It will not import information from any H R Block software more than a year old. The US has tax treaties with several countries that mandate how foreign retirement is recorded. Millions of people use that, but the software gives no help or guidance. No indication of when the standard deduction is applied to the running tax total. It is a bit difficult to just view the particular tax form on screen. The State forms work well.
Cons: Hard to import documents

I have used HRB successfully for many years. They build on pfevious year's return.. Very good But had new compter that failed to find last year's return. I suspect that last year's return was stored automatically in a cloud somwhere on someone else's computer. Why? I want it on MY computer. Cloud bad!

After completing the form, the review spotted several descriptions that needed clarification. I attempted to make changes and couldn't make changes.. I finally filed, not knowing for sure that the corrections had been made. I gave up. Some things work well. Direct download from my broker saved hours of filling out forms. Some instructions are confusing, difficult to understand.

Cons: Time consuming
