H&R Block tax software is good. I have used it exclusively for many years. I like the software and ease of use. I was very happy, until all of the recent media reports of H&R Block sharing personal information with others. Now I’m not sure what to think…

I have a large Capital Gain Loss, and the software tracks it year over year as well as other references to prior filed tax forms.

Efiling Disaster

On April 14th I submitted my federal return by E-file. After multiple attempts I kept getting an error message indicating no connection. He gave up on it and after about an hour or so I got an email indicating that my return was successful and indeed I got a refund. On April 30 I tried to file my state return but could not because the software said I never emailed my federal return. I called support and after a few minutes I was Told that I would be handed over to the person's manager. Nothing happened. I finally hang up. No one called me back either, so now I have to go to the post office and waste in an hour of time. Things happen but H and R block did not have the courtesy to call me back when they dropped the ball. I've used the software for several years and do not expect to next year

Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I only had a problem with the Federal return since the 1099 info was put on the wrong place by the program. I had to mail in copies of my 1099s to the IRS so i could get my refund. When I used it for my brother in law a few weeks later, the last program update corrected it.on theirs.

Cons: Time consuming
