I've been using Block for years, and it has been a great tool. I would give five stars, but I am disappointed about a couple things. First, the navigation s/w did not ask me about the Social Security income I started receiving this year. I had to ask the "help" feature then jump into that section. Second, unless I am misunderstanding how the different features are organized in the different versions of the tool, I am being required to buy the most expensive features for very meager income that my spouse earns for some very small business contract work that she does. That feature should be included in the Deluxe version rather than forcing me to buy the Premium version.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

Mother is waiting for her tax still. We had to do the id.me. She has dementia and the who process has been a night mare. I applied for an amendment return and thought she needed her id on the return. Now it’s going on 4 months. We did the whole id.me interview but still no refund. They sent her a vertifcation letter. Also your whole efile system was down on April 15.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R Block Tax Preparation software tool over 20 years. The reason for staying with the this tool for long time is its 1) accuracy; 2) easy of use; and 3) a straightforward and very efficient preparation process.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

I have been using H&R Block software to prepare my taxes for about 10 years. Previously I had used Turbotax but found it to be more inflexible. My only issue with HRB is that if you need to pay estimated taxes and your taxable income varies during the year, it is not clear and straightforward how to plan and to document this on your tax filing so as to avoid underpayment penalties. Also, if you have questions about an uncommon tax rule, it is not easy to find answers.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
