This year my friend and I switched from TurboTax to H&R Block tax software.
We both felt that the software was not user friendly.
As a former software engineer, the software felt like it was written for a programmer rather than a ordinary user. I will go back to TurboTax next year.

I've been using H&R Block's Premium version of tax software since 2013 (and maybe before) because I found it to be the easiest to use and the most accurate. If I have a question about a line item, it has the answer with a click of the mouse. I also like the feature that you can enter information manually or be guided. The other feature I especially like is that all my previous tax information is imported from the previous tax year. For both my business and rental income, it ensures that I am including all deductibles. Finally, the final check for errors puts my mind at ease that my return has been done correctly.

Been using "Tax-Cut" since the mid-90s. Besides the fact that it makes filing non-trivial taxes relatively painless, I prefer to work with a company that's not, well, that other one.

While attempting to file an extension there was a widespread outage with the HR Block online filing system. There was a total lack of support by the company while this issue was occurring. I realize their call volume was most likely high because of it but there didn’t seem to be any plan on how to inform it’s customers. Nor has anyone there been able to tell me how to get the status updated for another return I filed that continually daile but was received by the IRS.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was surprisingly disappointed at this year's H&R Software. It made us delayed twice to submit the tax return due to its program's not ready on Electric Vehicle's Federal tax credit page.
Pros: Easy to import documents
