This product was so bad for my tax situation that I am in the process of returning it, and has ZERO tax assistance. Taxes are already frustrating enough--you don't need this software to make it worse. This software has no ability to file married jointly for federal, and different state returns if spouses have different state residencies. The software instructs you to create three returns, and file each one individually, but then makes assumptions on the State returns that makes your numbers wrong, AND won't let you e-file the state return, so you have to mail it in. There is no way around this. Additionally, there is NO tax help, only "software support" which is for like "how do I install my software". The support desk didn't even understand my situation and took 45 mins just to tell me they "couldn't find an answer". I had to essentially learn the tax code myself and double-check all the software's automatic work (I found errors!). Finally, the interface looks like it's from the 90s. I'm switching to TurboTax next year, it is very much worth the money.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

I've used H&R Block for years. The "Jump to Related" never seems to work as easily as it should, and was VERY disappointed when I couldn't eFile my Federal Returns on April 14 and April 15. Running to the library to print the returns and post office to mail them was very inconvenient when I paid for an easier option.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming

Had trouble with program not updating figures after making changes, even when I used the recalculate button. Closing program and restarting finally worked. Just found the back and forth of trying to bring up forms heavy handed. Trouble printing return before it was filed. The only reason I would use it again is because it costs so much less than competitor.

This will be the last year I use H&R Block. I have been doing my own taxes for 30+ years. The struggle at the end was not worth it. The errors that cannot be easily fixed, the things that need overridden, but cannot and/or will eliminate e-filing, and the lack of specific online information for certain forms is time-consuming and frustrating. I was "in the queue" of 99+ people for help and it got down to 3, then let me know there were no agents available. The amount I owed and submitted changed immediately after the upload and so I overpaid. There are way too many glitches for a company providing software for a very important thing.
