We've been using H&R Block Premium for many years. Sometimes there are small niggles when it forces you down a path that does not pertain to your situation (e.g. minimum IRA distributions), but that is a minor challenge. My only hope is that they continue to offer the desktop program going forward. I prefer to keep my information local until it's time to submit. It has been a great experience using this for many years.

It's not always clear what data goes where. After doing this year's taxes, I realized I missed something in last year's taxes. It took so many hours to complete that I am not going to re-do and hope that I get a little more refund. It's simply not worth the time & effort.

Not a lot of difference between H&R Block software and TurboTax. They both produce an ok return. As a tax professional I do struggle getting the software to do what I need it to do to correctly report but for a non tax person it is ok.
Where I saw a huge difference this year was when I tried efiling a NY extension on April 14 & 15, H&R Block software wouldn’t connect. I kept getting errors even though I was connected to the internet. In the end I went direct to the NY state website and filed the extension there. I used TurboTax for many years before moving to H&R Block due to company discounts. Now that I’m retired I will be going back to TurboTax as I can’t trust H&R Block to efile when the time comes.

This happened to a lot of users.
The software failed on April 14th and April 15th. It was unable to electronically file my taxes, the whole point of having it. I had to quickly buy Turbo Tax and use it.
Never using again. The company failed to communicate the issue and when it would be resolved.
