I bought the Premium edition since I needed the investment configuration feature. This Block version provided the easy direct download fro, the investment house. Although this feature was not widely noted, it worked great, given multiple transactions that needed to be accounted for in tax calculations.Not all that fast, but easy to work though with all the multitude of inputs.I also liked the fact that the State filing would occur at the same time.
Pros: Easy to import documents

I used H&R Block for the first time. I was thankful for the user friendly setup and easy use. I was able to complete my taxes on time. I will be more prepared for next year knowing categories to save. I love that they review your submission.

Gets the job done for what is a fairly complex return. Not helpful in transferring information from a k-1, but still better than the official Illinois site, which just tells you "error" but not what or where. Nickles and dimes with extra charges for state returns and/filing returns when it's "free".

I have used HR block for several years, but I find one must be very cautious when filling out and explanations are poor at best. The only reason to buy this year was ease of transferring last years data.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

I bought the software last November but didn't use it until April. It still asked me all the right questions. and led me through the whole thing in just a few hours. Fantastic program for an early filer or a procrastinator. Use it in good faith; as it will save you from yourself!!

Good Software, Electronic Filing Could be Better

The software overall is pretty solid and easy to use. I've been using for about 10 years now and it has worked well. Trying to file electronically on tax day this year was a nightmare, however. I kept getting a "cannot connect" message, I assume because their servers were overloaded. When it did go through, it was rejected by the IRS, as a filing code from last year was in an old worksheet (and it should not have been - I didn't file electronically last year) and I couldn't delete this filing code. I deleted the old (last year) worksheet, but the return would still not go through, so I had to print it out and mail it instead.
