unable to e-file for 4 hrs. not sure if i made it on time.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R Block Software for years. This year I had to upgrade to Premium. This program was easy to use and makes doing your taxes without the hassle of writing or filling out all the paperwork.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Simple Directions and Fast!

I've used H&R Block for about 10 years. Last year I thought I needed more help so I took my returns to an individual, the only difference was the cost. I still had to do the prep work and sit beside them while they asked me the same questions that the H&R Software ask. However, I had to pay five times the amount. I learned my lesson and returned to the H&R Block Premium for 2023.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Software Glitch on Tax Day!

I kept getting a submission error on Tax Day, April 15 saying my return did not go thru and to try again later (along with my ACH payment amount due) shortly afterward, I then received an email from HR Block saying that my submission was received and approved by the IRS...my software is still showing that my return has not been filed. There is no way of confirming that the ACH went thru or was received. I've used HR Block software for years.

Challenging to follow, and MANY failed E files

I have an admittedly complicated return, but there are several areas of the program that seem to contradict each other, asking for information and values differently in different sections. E-Filing was a nightmare, I spent nearly 2 hours getting error messages with my anti-virus turned off!
I've used Deluxe for many years but, because of a second rental house, I thought I'd try Premium. I can't tell the difference. Plus, it was extremely awkward handling the conversion of a secondary residence back to a rental. Last but maybe least, the program doesn't seem to handle Delaware state taxes very well. I'm consistently getting corrections from Delaware--although I'll admit I'm not sure who is right.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Why is it that every year at tax season, one must purchase a new HR Block software installation in order to do taxes? Why don’t you offer an update to the previous tax year version, just like you provide updates to the purchased version currently being used, as tax updates are issued by the IRS? Then, maybe you could reduce the price of the software, which goes up practically every year. I’m sure it could be done because I worked in software development for 30 years and the only time a brand new release was offered is when major changes to requirements were implemented. Other times, for relatively small changes, just a patch was issued to the field. I don’t see why you need to offer a whole new full price release every year. Why not just update the latest version with a patch to update due to new tax law changes? And, I know you do your yearly software updates starting with the previous version. Why waste the current version from previous version already purchased? Just update it with a patch. Apple doesn’t issue a whole new operating system each time it needs to update its software. They just send out patches. But, I know this is a profit driven, capitalistic economy and HR Block would never make a change. Just my thoughts. 😊
