I was very disappointed that HR Block software did not have the California State version ready to go. I noticed the update dates listed for the State version kept getting passing the expected dates for 3 or 4 weeks until I finally just purchased TurboTax so I could file my State taxes. So for tax year 2021 I ended up having to pay for two separate software packages to complete my taxed. I cannot recommend HR Block to anyone that wishes to file State taxes in combination with their Federal returns unless they don't mind waiting for the updates which may be weeks after other software companies are ready to go.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Time consuming
