Its no better than TurboTax or other like software for doing taxes. If you are in the H&R "infrastructure", then use it; if you've always used TurboTax, then use TurboTax. I've used both. The days of getting the basic level package and having every question answered are gone. If you want the "hold your hand every step of the way; answer every question clearly" support, you're going to pay through the nose for uber-tier no matter which tax software you choose.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
I've been an HRB software user for over a decade, but no more. This year we had a new tax situation--a trust disbursement--that the program simply couldn't handle. Its advice was along the lines of "Look up what you're supposed to do in this situation, and do that." Uh...I bought the program to answer that question for me! I switched to Turbo Tax and not only could it handle the new situation, but if found deductions I'd been missing out on for years with HRB. Plus, I could easily access live accountants to answer my questions and make sure I handled the trust properly. Bye bye HRB!
I have been using the H&R Block tax software package for a few years. As my tax situation simplified I no longer required a CPA to help with my returns. I found the H&R Block package to be clear and very intuitive. I particularly like the "clickable" links that allow you to better understand the line item in the return. I will most certainly be ordering the package for my 2022 return.
