Software update glitches can cause problems filing

The frustration I have with using H&R Block's software over a number of years is: software updates required to file my returns have repeatedly, over many years, been delayed for days/weeks and/or were buggy in that the software would not download properly. Such issues has required me to spend many hours repeatingly trying to resolve the issues through online help or by relying on phone or chat support after long wait times. Software users should not have to repeatedly mitigate H&R software problems each year. Yet, such issues have repeatedly prevented me from completing and filing my Federal and State tax forms, without unplanned delays and extreme frustration with the H&R Block Corporation. Such issues may be why Turbo-Tax seems to be the leader in the computer tax preparation market. I have continued to rely on Turbo Tax over the years because when forms are actually completed the filing/e-filing procedures and quality of print outs is superior. You just need to get your software coding team up to speed on debugging software before each years software is released. In my case compatible with Apple Mac computers. I will hope next year works more smoothly for my return prep of the 2021 returns.

Works fine with simple returns. Software falls short in areas such as K-1s (especially hedge fund transactions) and amended returns (e.g., NY amended return has a software error which prevents e-filing (which under NY rules also prevents printing and manual filing). Customer support is understaffed and unable to provide solutions.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only problem I had and did not appreciate was was having an update required just before I sent my efile to the IRS. Then I had a problem with it repeating over and over. Had to download from site. Also remind people after download to save tax form here and to reboot computer after download
