It mostly works. But there are a number of annoyances. On a Mac, with the latest OS, if appearance is set to "dark mode", then typing in itemized lists is invisible. After years of complaints, the program has still not provided the function it used to have a few decades ago, when one could click on an entry that had an itemized list, and open that list. It seems strange that, after entering itemized deductions and learning that the standard deduction is better, the program was unable to automatically move a mortgage interest deduction to the correct place, from being partially attributed to a home office.
The software makes filing taxes easy, with clear instructions, and corrections as you go along to avoid errors. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to file and avoid the cost, inconvenience, and time necessary to have taxes filed by a third party.
Terrible job of guiding me to recording crypto gain/losses. Call help desk twice and they had no idea and worse yet provided me with inaccurate information
H and R is very good, but they did miss the fact that since I worked as a freelancer for a company located in NC, I should file an income tax in that state, although I am not a resident of the state.

It asks you all the questions you want it to and then some. It walks you through every step of the way. It provides a audit check to be sure you did not miss any items. I love it!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent except for one annoying feature

I have used the product for several years with excellent results. This year a new feature was added: the "X" checkbox next to most numeric entries. After several rounds of experimentation and repetition - without receiving any explanation - you realize that striking "X" means "accept the entry." But then suddenly you realize that next to an entry already entered, striking "X" means "delete the entry." Most confusing!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchase this version of software every year, and this year when going through the accuracy review, I kept getting asked for information that was not applicable. There was no where to tell the system I did not itemize last year, and the software REQUIRED a number related to itemizations. This completely fouled up my e-file attempts and I eventually printed and mailed my returns.
