This Software Makes Tax Preparation Stress Free!

I have been using H&R Block tax preparation software since 2011. Since the very first use, I have never considered using any other software to do my taxes. As I have never used any other programs to prepare my taxes, I cannot compare it to other software packages. Because it has served so very well, I have never even looked into other options.
Each year I purchase the software on CD, install it in a matter of seconds, and in a matter of a few more seconds, I have imported all of the information from the previous year's return. As anyone who is self employed and does their own taxes knows, most of the work each year involves organizing and categorizing receipts and documents, and adding up totals. That's the part I often drag my heels on, as it is tedious but necessary work. Using the software, however, is anything but tedious.
I am always so happy when I get all of my documents and receipts in order, as I know from 8 years of using this program that doing the actual taxes will mostly be a breeze. H&R Block software does all the computations, plugs everything into the forms, and asks me all the pertinent questions to enable me to complete my return. And it automatically updates the software after installation, and auto-saves regularly during the process of completing the return. I have only had to call a tax specialist once or twice in 8 years of using this software, as it is very clear and understandable (as much as any software can be, given the complexity of tax laws).
Other things I really like about this software are the Maximum Refund Guarantee, and the guarantee to stand behind the customer if there is ever an audit. And I have always felt confident about submitting my returns, because there is an accuracy review feature at the end that tells you if your return has any issues. It has a red, yellow and green "meter", with green being a review stating that the return looks great and should be free of any concerns about accuracy or complying with each set of new laws. I always feel better submitting my return knowing that it is in the "green zone" of being free of issues or concerns.
Perhaps other software packages do all of the things I have mentioned here. As I stated, I don't actually know, because I haven't looked back since 2011 because this software is truly easy to use, very well designed, easy to navigate through during the completion process (one can immediately go to any portion of the return, forward or backward, to double check items and edit anything as needed, or add anything that may have been forgotten or entered into the wrong area), and it has in fact gotten me the maximum refunds on my returns. The price I pay for the software each year really ends up being nothing, because I could never get the refunds I get by trying to figure out the complicated labyrinth that is tax preparation by myself, as I used to do before starting to use this software. I recommend it highly.

I give it 4-1/2 stars. It missing half a star is because of some annoying glitches in the program that should've been fixed and/or never been there in the first place. For example: after completing a rather complex return using the step-by-step interview, it program found two errors. Both errors were created by the program: it opted for A vs B, but still listed data in B which were flagged as errors needing fixing prior to filing. Well, I did not fill in the data in B manually, but I had to find it (obscure lines on form 8829) and figure out exactly what the problem entry was and how to manually remove it.
I had no issues like that in the prior years of using H&R, but this one took half an hour of my life that I will never get back
All in all, a better program than Turboo Tax based on use of ease and protecting my identity

I've been using H&R Block tax software for about 20 years. It freed me from the difficulty of trying to manually erase entries from the printed government forms. I have not tried other tax software, so I can't compare them, but I am satisfied with the HRB software and see no reason to try any other.

I have used H & R Block for probably over 10 years, if not more. It has always been VERY easy to use, goes through the whole filing process with questions and answers. We have a small business and use to have rental property, and it takes care of ALL the pertinent information needed for both. At the end I click the send button, and it is accepted at the IRS every time. Never been audited either. The next year it carries forward all of out past year information, auto fills in all personal information, and goes through it all again. I HIGHLY recommend this software for anyone.
