I’ve used HRB for as long as I can remember. This year was different. It generally takes me 1-2 hours to complete my return. 2018 took me 45 minutes. This year, the software seemed to really be different. It was a little illogical in order and often skipped things I was used to answering. It took me almost 8 hours to ensure I had everything inserted that I have done dozens of years before. I literally had to search through forms this year for the first time to find some things that were skipped. I’m just glad it’s over and uninstalled. I’ll likely continue using it, but developers need to revisit any changes in 2019’s workflow. It was horrible.
Extremely frustrating to install and update. Even with a basic Windows 10 computer, had problems installing from the CD on TWO computers. Finally gave up and downloaded. Now I can't get them to update -- either from the app or by downloading. A very frustrating experience. After seven years with Block software, this will DEFINITELY be my last.
Yes, I would definitely recommend H&R Block Premium Software to others. Questionnaire screen are easy to follow and has help everywhere. In 'Save As', it saves a pdf copy with worksheets which is indeed amazing. That helped me to get more benefit in tax refund by looking the possible max limits in IRA contributions along with 401K. It has great value for the price. There is lot of room to improve UI for 1099-B entry screen. It should be able to read the entries from a spreadsheet so that it will be easier for the users when they have huge number of transactions. There was an issue with 'Delete' of 1099-B entry but it is not a big issue though.
