I've been using H+R block for years. However, this year was challenging, as I received almost 3 years of back SS disability pay, along with having to reimburse 60k to an employer paid disability insurance company. The software didn't support that, so had to take an entire day to do manual worksheets off the IRS site, and that was of no benefit. I don't know if the results were correct or not. The way the social security system works, it tends to take a long time to be approved and actually receive pay, and since that's the norm, the software should have that capacity.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare
Wound up paying twice to file my state taxes because the instructions are fague and now I have to deal with getting reimbursed. Does not give reasons why something needs to be entered one way or the other.
all ok except carry-over data missing: e.g., 1099 data not carried over - need to enter all addresses, etc. - home office data not carried over - most business data not carried over - below is the recommendation confirmation - I'll say yes, advisedly - please tix carry over data feature
Overall I like the program which I have been using for many years. However, the IRS rejected my 2017 e-filed return because of the incorrect 2016 gross adjusted income that it pulled from last year's return. The number is correct on my 2016 return, but the 2017 program used a different unknown number.
