Good for Federal, not good for California if you Have Rental Income. I have used TaxCut for many years, but this year I have a rental income so I bought the Premium version, which was fine for Federal, but the software would not import the rental information to the California return. The instructions were very complex and left transfer of the rental information totally up to me. I gave up, filed an extension and now have to pay a tax professional.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Is there a defect in the Virginia return algorithm

Everything was fine as in prior years but I discovered one thing that has me concerned. In my Virginia State Return Under the topic of Military -related SUBTRACTIONS , sub subject Certain military benefits dropdown, Military Benefits are defined as: Any military RETIREMENT income received for service in the armed forces of etc. First problem is why is this buried so deep when VIRGINIA has hundreds and thousands of retirees and more importantly I could not find any similar deduction when I went to the tax instructions issued by the state of VA
Pros: Easy to prepare
