I do not care for this model. My previous Sonicare toothbrush operated at 30 second intervals which reminded me when to switch to another section of my mouth. This model does not. It also could be programmed for an additional 30 seconds of run time. I also find that the design of the handle of the replacement toothbrush is not as comfortable as my previous model. Overall, I do not care for this toothbrush as much as my prevous one. If I could obtain a full refund, I would. The toothbrush was purchased at a major drug store chain, and I suspect it was designed specifically for sale through this vendor only and I believe the quality is inferior to my last model.

We are very satisfied. Our teeth feels very clean and squeaky. We tried another brand, but it was incomparable so switched back immediately.

I have previously owned 5 Philips Sonicare toothbrushes but the Essence without a doubt was the worst. It was more noisy (with a wavering, disconcerting sound) and it was very inconsistent in recharging -- sometimes it completed in 8 to twelve hours; other times it was still charging after 24 hours. Then my wife took the fully charged unit on a trip, and it was fully discharged after one days usage. It was only a year and a half old...
Pros: worked at first
Cons: noisy and irritating whiny sound, failed within 18 months, does not support 220v, recharge time increased within months

I have had two phillips toothbrushes prior to my current one.
It is louder and does not seem as well constructed.
It seems as something has changed not sure what, have they outsourced manufacturing to someone else, is quality controls lacking, are they trying to enhance margins, regardless of the cause what I considered at onetime an excellent product is now just okay
Previously, the Essence e5000 I had beeped every 15 seconds in the two minute cycle so I would know when to move it to another position. This new one does not do that, so it's a turkey shot that every position gets the right amount of time.
Cons: the 15 second beep is gone!

I didnt know until I used the product thatit didnt have the 2 minute timer that the older model had.
Before using this toothbrush, I had no idea what I was missing. My gums were not getting clean. I hope this saves my gums.
Pros: cleans teeth well, cleans gums well, easy to use
Cons: was not sure wether to plug it in continuously
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just bought a new model. my old unit worked fine for more than ***sixteen (16) years***(approx.11,680 brushings), until I dropped it in the shower and cracked the base of the handle. It is so old that the name has been rubbed off. The charger said model FC. It looks like the Essence. My only complaint is that the seal on the head shaft leaks into the handle top and requires cleaning. Since I am the only one using it, I left the brush on the handle while in the charger. Great Product!!! I only hope the new one lasts as long.
