Not a G8 but still an interesting device

I have had the G8X with the dual screen for a week now. Performance wise, the snapdragon 855 and 6gb ram give the overall feel of the regular G8 and other 2019 flagship phones. Running multiple apps on the dual screen is lag free and so far bug free. The dual screen is a cool concept but honestly I do not use it half as much as I thought I would. So at the end of the day, I honestly can't recommend this over the regular G8. 2 screens is cool but the quad HD display on the regular G8 is light years better. I feel like everything is too large on the G8X screen and my fingers bump extra stuff when pressing the screen. The quad HD G8 is high enough resolution to shrink everything down to a comfortable size for my hands. The on screen fingerprint reader is simply horrible. It cant read my thump 75% of the time where as the hardware reader on the regular G8 never failed me once. I can't speak for the camera as I have barely used it but I can tell its not as good as the regular G8.
Honestly the LG G8 is the best phone of 2019 so when I got the G8X my expectations where high. Ultimately the G8X just isn't as good as its flagship counterpart in any way. The dual screen is the only reason to buy this phone but honestly for day to day use it is simply bulky and in the way. I will keep the G8X just for the extra scree but I already know I will be using my regular G8 more.
Best phone I've ever had. Can literally do anything dual screen option is amazing. I had an LG phone before and loved it. Absolutely thrilled with the new version. And the fact that you can add an SD card for an unbelievable amount of storage

nice phone, some irritating features

My (very) old LG died so I needed a new phone fast, and since I liked my old phone decided to stick with LG. There are big differences in the operation of the phones, some of them annoying. First the good - it's quick, responsive, nice screen etc and it has an earphone jack. So far no major issues. The annoying things: First, the music app doesn't recognize MP3 files downloaded on the phone itself. I spent two hours with ATT support and over an hour with LG (who said they couldn't understand why and would get back to me but haven't). I would move the file (using file manager) to audio but when I opened the app it wasn't there. My work around - got a different music app - PiMusic. It works just fine but the app that came with the phone should work and support people ought to be more familiar with the phone. Second, the notification screen or widget or whatever it is uses a small, light gray font which is hard to read. My workaround is to always have reading glasses or magnifying glass nearby. Third, camera isn't super important to me but my son's Pixel 4 takes much better pictures. We did a side by side comparison taking the same photo at the same time.

It to thin and fragile, less than 24 hours after receiving it, it fell out of my pocket and hit the floor and the back smashed on it. You better get insurance right away so you can pay the deductible on it. The case for it that you can order with the phone is thin and not very protective.
Excellent phone and great value if you get it for free right now under promotion with att unlimited. I got it with dual screen accessory and its as productive as it is helpful for my job. Highly recommended.
