Wouldn't be able to make pear butter without it
on September 1, 2025
Posted by: JOLENE
Been using the fruit an veg strainer for several years to make my pear butter. I wash and pull stems out of pears, steam them to soften them, put in the strainer and it removes skin and seeds. What I have left is a thick puree that I put in my crock pot for 6-8 hours, and I'm ready to water can my pear butter. Sooooo easy!
I can around 30 pints or so of pear butter when my tree decides to have pears (about every two or three years). I could not do this without the strainer. It's durable, easy to assemble and clean.

Screen needs work, split in under an hour of use.

While it worked (less than an hour) it was good. Then the strainer split at the seam and seeds and skins started getting into the juice and pulp. The skins also started getting hung in the split, and jammed it up.

Disappointed in marketing

Honesty, a little ticked off at Kitchenaid right now. All pictures show the grinder along with the strainer, only on an asterisk does it mention that you need to purchase the grinder to use as well. Seriously? Then show in the pictures what comes in the actual box, not just the entire set up. Ridiculous. I'm sure the strainer will work great, once I spend the extra money to purchase the grinder. Oh and make sure you purchase the correct grinder. I already have one of the grinders I purchased previously, but it's not compatible.

Love this attachment!

I've had this attachment for years. I use it to process tomatoes into juice for canning. So much easier than the hand crank sieves. I just wish the top was deeper where the tomatoes go.

Doesn’t work well for juicing berries
on July 17, 2025

I purchased this specifically to juice berries for making jelly. Also bought the grinder that is needed to have all the parts. I thought this product would make for an easier and less messy replacement for my Squeezo machine. I see lots of positive reviews here using this to process tomatoes, and I assume it would work fine for that. However, for processing berries it is a fail. I tried it with raspberries and I ended up with a ton of seeds and pulp in my juice, requiring me to strain everything a second time using a hand held sieve. It also leaked a lot of juice at the seam where the top feeder bowl attaches to the main housing - very messy. I think if they offered a finer mesh screen cone it would work OK (except for the leak at the seam). Overall though I am disappointed with this product.

Bought this for my tomatoes and the strainer cone broke on the first use. Very disappointed. Looked for a replacement strainer cone online, and no luck.

Fantastic!

I make my own marinara sauce but have always used canned tomatoes, I also make berry jelly but don't care for seeds. I bought this (already had the grinder which is required) and immediately ran 15lbs off Roma tomatoes through it. No peeling or seeding needed - just quarter the tomatoes and shove them through. Voila, 9 quarts of tomato sauce (very runny, took 8 hours to cook down, but excellent! ). I made blueberry/raspberry/blackberry jam yesterday - just dumped the fruit down the chute and instantly had beautiful, seeded but pulpy fruit juice which made the best jam I've made yet. Can't wait to try homemade applesauce next. Cleans up quick, too (I handwash all my Kitchenaid parts).
I would recommend this to a friend!
