A Canner’s Dream.

I bought this on 08/22/2023 on the recommendation from my co-worker and I am so happy that I did! This attachment cut my tomato prep by 75%. I processed 204 tomatoes in about 2 1/2 hrs. Prior prep time was 4 1/2 hrs for 70 tomatoes. The strainer worked exceptionally well and cleaning it was a breeze. My helpful hint would be if you want to run the grinding cast-off a second time, pour some off the juice with it so the grinding screw doesn’t get bogged down/ jammed. The KitchenAid team who designed this gets a A+ and should get a huge raise. The KichenAid Marketing team gets a D- because my only knock is that the strainer and grinder should also be offered as a set because you cannot use the strainer without having the grinder already.

Black Raspberry seeds broke the drive shaft !!!

I have used this attachment before to seed black raspberries with no issues but today it broke the drive shaft. This is a robust piece of metal! Lucky it didn't break the Kitchen Aid Mixer! I just used it as normal, putting soft berries in the hopper. It jammed 3 times and made a concrete like blockage of seeds. Almost impossible to clean and clear out. The 4th time it broke the drive shaft. I seed the black raspberries to make jam. It made jam all right -- JAMMED the machine! It should be able to seed black raspberries. No idea why it broke this time. And you can't buy just this part. The attachment doesn't work without the drive shaft. I have to buy the entire thing if I want another one. Not happy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Drive shaft broke with berries

Like others have said. This works great for tomatoes and I have used it a bunch for apples. However blackberries were too much. Like others, I expected more from a kitchen aid product.

Best investment ever!

I got this and the grinder attachment for Christmas 2019 and finally got around to using it. I've don't 9 gallons of spaghetti sauce so far and it makes it such a breeze! Growing up mom always used the squeeze-o and I always helped her. After she passed I refused to make sauce if I had to use that contraption. The strainer attachment is soooo much easier and takes so much less time. I wish I had discovered it sooner!

Broken hopper

I love this attachment. I have used it for many years and have canned a lot of sauce using it. The only issue I have with it is that the hopper where the food product is placed is cracking where it attaches to the mixer. I do love KA products and was disappointed that this had failed to meet my expectations for sturdiness that I have come to expect. I have many other KA products: pasta roller/cutter, meat grinder, etc. and they have all had a reliability, sturdiness and quality that I have relied on. I was hoping to buy just the foos hopper but it appears that I would have to purchase the entire set.

Tomato sauce time saver

Wish I would have bought this sooner. I only grow cherry tomatoes, but always end up with too many. But the “old school” way of making sauce is too much work to do with cherry tomatoes. The hole in the top of the grinder is the perfect size to pop in whole cherry tomatoes. Processed bucketloads of tomatoes for sauce in no time and with hardly any effort!

I bought the vegetable strainer last month (Aug 2022) to process fresh tomatoes into sauce. The strainer cone split on the second day of use. I truly love the product and the sauce produced was perfect. Sadly it broke and I cannot find a replacement strainer cone.

Excellent sauce

Very happy with the fruit and vegetable strainer (even though I had to re-buy the grinder attachment because my grinder was the older model that didn't work with this strainer even though they were purchased on the very same day). Certainly made quick work of a boatload of tomatoes needed to be processed. I disassembled and cleaned mine out twice during the process just to ensure no problems and I had none. I, for one, am very thankful for this attachment!
