Sounded great but fell short. Won't even attach.

I got this as a gift to use with my KitchenAid food grinder, but the part that’s supposed to fit into the attachment hub doesn’t match the notch at all. It won’t lock in or even go in, making the whole attachment unusable. Yes, I have the food grinder attachement required to use this attachement.
Why would a brand‑new KitchenAid accessory not fit my mixer? It is not the old style and it is not refurbished as far as I know (again it was a gift). I have no receipt so I dont know when it was purchased. So I now have a worthless dust collector.

Misleading!!!

Terrible! Misleading advertising and disappointing!! We are missing the part that you need to push the fruits and vegetables in, it was terribly misleading on the packaging. I see we are not alone!! Everything we bought was far too expensive for what we ended up getting, we feel fooled and shafted. Can’t use it at all! Do better Kitchen Aid, someone surely needs a demotion.!! Who knew we were buying frustration and disappointment!!!

Terrible Compatibility!

Terrible compatibility. Why would you make a metal food grinder that isn't compatible with the fruit and vegetable strainer or vise versa? Ridiculous. I was looking forward to processing all of my fresh tomatoes but was disappointed to learn that the KSMFVSP strainer isn't compatible with the metal grinder (model KSMMGA). Very disappointing. I received both as gifts at Christmas and now can't return them. I was expecting better from Kitchenaid.

Good, but could be better

I preserve hundreds of jars of food every year, and I generally really like this attachment, with one [growing] annoyance: the spout is directed back toward the machine, and the length of the spout is such that it's REALLY hard to find a bowl that fits under it.
The spout is too short to direct liquids back into the seated mixer bowl, and too long to fit a flat-bottomed pot under it. The base of the machine stops any straight-sided container from being able to fit. The spout lands in the 2-inch gap between either option being viable, and it's a colossal pain in the neck.

As a result, the only options are to (1) put a smaller bowl with a curved bottom under the spout and create a huge mess as sauce splashes down into it, or (2) jimmy rig a spout of aluminum foil that extends the sauce attachment's reach into the seated mixer bowl.
The inconvenience of finding solutions sometimes keeps me from preserving, if I'm being totally transparent.
If anyone from product development sees this comment, this is my solution (read: plea) -
Build out two spout options. One that directs sauce to the side (away from the user), where we can place a pot we're using to boil down the sauce. The other that extends back toward a seated/secured mixing bowl, where I have the rest of the sauce ingredients and don't have to worry about the bowl tipping over.

I really want to stay loyal to Kitchenaid. I have fond memories using your machines in kitchens long gone quiet, and I appreciate your history of high-quality products. Unfortunately, it seems there is a break in communication between the design team and the end user.

Do better KitchenAid

No instructions were provided on how to assemble or use the strainer. I had to go to YouTube just to figure out how to put it together and operate it.
The product listing is also misleading. It doesn’t clearly state that an additional $40+ attachment is required to actually use the strainer. The photos make it look like everything you need is included, which is not the case.
The included “Safety and Operating Instructions” are basically useless. They don’t explain how to attach the unit to the grinder at all—just generic warnings like not putting your fingers in it while it’s running.
Overall, poor documentation and misleading product presentation. Very disappointed by a brand I’ve trusted for years. Do better KitchenAid. Your name is your worth.

Why does this part not fit both grinders

I purchased this product. Did realize I needed the food grinder attachment as well .. good thing I purchased the metal grinder. And the fruit strainer does not fit the metal grinder .this is not ok I should not have to purchase to separate grinders that do the same thing. Now I need to purchase the plastic grinder? This is not ok . The plastic grinder is the same price as the strainer.

Gets the raspberry seeds out!!

I absolutely love this attachment. I use it mostly because I like to make raspberry jelly without seeds in it and this attachment removes 99% of the seeds. I get all raspberry juice out for making the jelly.
I would recommend this to a friend!
