Sealer works, but Accessory port doesn't

Got this as a Christmas gift. The vacuum and sealing on bags works great, however, hose for the Accessory port doesn't click in, in fact, it doesn't stay in at all. I purchased the bottle sealer, and that tab doesn't stay in either.
I'm on hold with Customer Service, and they say it will take over 20 minutes to reach a person.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does not vacuum.

I bought this 3 days ago and it does not vacuum. I’ve tried various troubleshooting techniques from the website and YouTube and it just doesn’t work. I pushed more air out of the bag with my hands. The vacuum timed out well before it was anywhere close to being vacuumed. Don’t waste your time with this model.

Please find below a few suggestions which could help you with the mentioned issue:
1. Check the upper and lower gaskets of the machine. If either of these is damaged or dirty, the unit will not vacuum properly. Clean any food materials from the gaskets. Remove the lower gasket, flip it over, reinsert it into the unit and test the unit.
2. Make sure the open end of the bag is resting entirely inside of the Vacuum Channel. The edge of the bag should not go beyond the Vacuum Channel. Do not make your own side seams for a FoodSaver Bag. They are manufactured with special side seams sealed all the way to the outer edge.
3. Check the bag for leaks. Seal the bag with some air in it. Submerge it in water and apply pressure. Bubbles indicate a leak. If the bag has a leak, a new bag is needed.
4. We recommend you pre-freeze meats and other moist foods for 1-2 hours before vacuum sealing. Excess liquids from moist foods can cause the unit not to vacuum and permanent damage can occur.

Disappointed

I purchased this for the simple fact that it is more compact and I wanted it mostly for vacuum sealing jars. Well, the tubes do not fit. I purchased it for nothing.

Food saver... Life saver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently got the Food Saver and I love it. I'm using it to safely & easily seal and store meats & produce. Chicken & meats I buy in bulk and then vacuum pack options for later use. Into the freezer they go and when ready I either thaw or use my sous vide circulation pump and toss it in the water and it comes out cooked shortly after.
The vacuum sealer is easy to use, the plastic rolls are customizable the the size you need. I've been wanting a food saver for a long while, this one checks all the boxes. Did I mention I does not overwhelm your counter? It's compact enough to fit in a drawer for storage when not in use.

Great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works exactly as it should. Sealed food nicely with easy to follow instruction. Loved that it came with extra bags. The actual saver is a good size and lightweight so doesn’t take up much space either. Definitely worth the investment if you need a way to store food longer.

I was very pleased that you brought the smaller vacuum sealer back. I had one for a number of years and finally wore out the foam seal. When I tried to get a new one, I was informed that FoodSaver no longer made that product or the replacements for it so I had to throw it out. I do hope that you will keep some foam seals in stock for this new one for several years. One other small disappointment is the fact that it does not have the accessory port for taking the air out of container accessories. I miss that. Can one be purchased to do that? But I'm still very pleased with my purchase and will continue to use BOTH of my FoodSaver's till they die!

Recommended attachment destroys machine

I bought the recommended handheld attachment through the link on the page for this machine.
The instructions tell you to "pry the plug out of the machine with a butter knife"
It doesn't come out. Using different tools remove the plug, the plug only comes out in pieces. And the surface around the hole becomes marred and scratched.
The instructions show the hose only going into the machine.
The hose does not come off the green plug/clip.
The green plug/clip is too small for the hole.

accessory hose doesn't connect

I bought this Foodsaver yesterday. I used my previous foodsaver frequently to vacuum seal jars. Today I tried using it to seal jars. The foodsaver accessory hose does not fit into the accessory port! It sits partially into the the accessory port but does not snug into it. The hose falls off and there is no suction. We tried and tried, watched videos, and studied the manual, and checked the website.The port will not fit the accessory hose that is show to use with it. We are so upset!
