It doesn’t have a wide opening for bags… no blade to cut sections off a roll of bags. It is space saving

Bought this in the heat of the moment when my original 10+ yr old Seal a Meal died. It just will not work. It comes on and it lights up and I read the directions and I tried it and … no vacuuming to be seen. I have 10 bags to be sealed and no matter how I place the bag nothing is happening. Waiting 2-5 mins between tries and nothing. Nothing. Returning tomorrow.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I received this for Christmas. I sealed 15 bags before it started to only partially vacuum bags. Yes I cleaned the gaskets. Yes I cleaned the drip tray. Yes I used the correct food saver bags. What an absolute piece of junk.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please find below a few suggestions which could help you with the mentioned issue:
1. Check the upper and lower gaskets of the machine. If either of these is damaged or dirty, the unit will not vacuum properly. Clean any food materials from the gaskets. Remove the lower gasket, flip it over, reinsert it into the unit and test the unit.
2. Make sure the open end of the bag is resting entirely inside of the Vacuum Channel. The edge of the bag should not go beyond the Vacuum Channel. Do not make your own side seams for a FoodSaver Bag. They are manufactured with special side seams sealed all the way to the outer edge.
3. Check the bag for leaks. Seal the bag with some air in it. Submerge it in water and apply pressure. Bubbles indicate a leak. If the bag has a leak, a new bag is needed.
4. We recommend you pre-freeze meats and other moist foods for 1-2 hours before vacuum sealing. Excess liquids from moist foods can cause the unit not to vacuum and permanent damage can occur.

What a great little machine! I use it for sealing food AND clothing. I spend a lot of time outdoors and having a change of clothes is important. The sealing of the clothes compacts them so I can fit more into my boat's storage compartments. I also use it to save space in my suitcase when traveling.

Confusing

I'm new to vacuum sealing and I wanted to get some attachments to this machine. I don't understand why it's so confusing to what pieces fit it. I've been reading reviews plus all the product information and I'm still not sure what will actually work. It really shouldn't be this hard.
