Frustrating

Last year my husband bought it for Christmas, Is only me or is this seal wrap difficult to use? You need 3 hands, 2 hands on each side and 1 to hold product your sealing. I should’ve kept my old one. I gave to my daughter when she moved out. :(

Worked great for 2 years

We use it quite regularly, about once a week to seal some food and sadly the plastic view window has broken. I guess from wear and tear from opening and closing the window.

Didn't last long

Probably used it a total of 2 hours, not continuous, and it quit vacuuming. Total waste of money.

Great when it is working

I bought this two years ago and I was impressed by the performance... after about a year vacuum continued working but automatic sealer did not, so I had to switch to manual... After two years it started acting up, at times suction worked, but more often it did not... we replaced the seals but problem persisted. So this week we opened it up to see if air tubes were clogged, but they were clean..,, so we don’t know what went wrong since other parts are not easily accessible. We liked the product but are disappointed it did not last longer, and will give FS another try with a more compact model
I would recommend this to a friend!

Older models were much better.

I got this to replace a ten year old FoodSaver. I loved that machine but it died. I find this model cumbersome and it only vacuums about half the time (maybe I should try replacing the seal). I have to hold the bag parallel and then it vacuums better. I can't figure out how to seal without vacuuming either. I tried to insert an roll and it was too big to fit in the machine (it was an old roll I got from Costco so maybe the new rolls will fit better). It saves space compared to the older model, but I liked that machine better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can't replace seals???!!!

I bought the FM5480 unit at Costco a while back. It wasn't cheap, and was a little hard to use, as others have mentioned, but I liked the job it did. Recently, it stopped pulling a vacuum. It will work if I am able to hold down on the seal lid (with my third hand). Seals are clean and appear in good shape, but it won't seal. I've never used anything but genuine FS bags. Most Youtube videos say to replace seals on FS units, but the FAQ says you can't change the seals on these 5400 series units??? Am I supposed to just throw an otherwise perfectly good (and expensive) unit away?

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Your feedback is important to us. Both upper and lower gaskets in unit FM5480 are non removable , as so they are not replaceable. In order to to increase efficiency of your unit, you can clean the gaskets and area around them, as some food and small debris might cause sealing issues. Last less then 2 years ….. no warranty left so I will have to bought a new one. Believe me it will be a Foodsaver device
