This is the 3rd one I've owned
The design is extremely difficult to work with as the button to vacuum ends up under the bag
Who ever designed this should be ashamed for wrecking a great product

Hate this Foodsaver

I've had other FoodSaver's this is a nightmare - from trying to seal a chip bag, to trying to engage the vacuum to seal. Pressing the bar while trying to hold a bag in place! STUPID. all my other FoodSavers automatically started when placing the bag in place. Who thought this design was good idea?

Worst model ever!

I LOVED my previous model - at least 10 years old. I used it frequently. It was so easy to use, and didn't take up very much storage space. This thing is a monstrosity. Much too large, and very awkward to use. This certainly proves the adage that new and improved is NOT! I am returning this item, and I just purchased the older style model, which I know that I will love. I would not recommend this model, but Foodsaver overall is a good product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Temperamental... at best

I consistently don’t get a full seal from this machine, and while marinading steaks, the bag leaked all over a family heirloom cookbook, ruining it. The vacuum also sucked a bunch of blood up one time and it’s impossible to clean without completely dismantling. Inconsistent, unreliable and cannot be depended on. Great idea but very poor execution. I’m sick to my stomach over the bad deal leaking and dumping marinade on the cookbook though. It also regularly leaks marinades and juices into my sous vide pot because of the bad sealer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Malfunction

Item was on sale for boxing day at bed bath beyond original $259 and on sale for 179$. Excited went home to use it. Easy to use manual but you have to fight it to press two sides to start it while holding the stuffed bag. Works excellent on two tries and them machine got tired after sucking air twice and wont suck air after that. Then make you frustrated trying and wondering what is wrong with the machine. So just end up returning it the next day( today) went looking on other brand available and its just foodsaver everywhere, costco canadian tire, read reviews of other model and it said the same thing so frustration went on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is a sleek design and quite simple to use. Does a great job. However, trying to vacuum pack the single bags is quite a chore. You have to be tripled jointed to try and hold the bag in the machine and place one finger of each hand on each side of the sealing bar. I guess it just takes practice.
The one Con that is very frustrating is trying to seal the FoodSaver containers. They are very difficult to seal initially. I have to rotate the top at least six times (sometimes more) to find out if the sealer is going to trap the lid shut. If the motor ever burns out, I will know of the cause. I have looked for FoodSaver's Sealing Containers Course 101 but couldn't find anything that would help. So, I'm still struggling with that. I did a considerable amount of research on vacuum sealers and it all pointed to my model as being one of the market leaders (in my opinion) and convinced me that this is what I wanted. Another con, is the cost of your vacuum bags. It's similar to buying a cheap printer. Oh, you need more toner? The equivalent cost for that is four times the cost of that cheap printer you bought. Yeah, sorry, that's just the way
it is today. As for recommending this product to my friends, I'm sitting on the fence.

Great machine and better than all the older models

This machine works great and super easy to use if you read the instruction manual.
Also watch the video's Food saver instruction video are super easy to understand. This is my second machine I had the older model before V4420. This new model is so much better. And no you don't need to be a rocket scientist to use this . Took me 10 min of practice to vacuum like a pro. no more wasted plastic on roll or making bags to big. It seals better and vacuum better. I bought mine at Costco .
