I purchased this item hoping that I would be able to protect my contents from storing in a freezer. Being a newbie to the food saver, I don’t have an answer to that as yet. I love the ease of using this unit and sealing my food groups. I like everything about this unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have only had mine a little over two years and used it occasionally so practically new. Now it won’t seal the food by taking all the air out. It comes and goes but very frustrating.

Hello!
Please find below a few suggestions, which could help you with the mentioned issue:
1. Check the upper and lower gaskets of the machine. If either of these is damaged or dirty, the unit will not vacuum properly. Clean any food materials from the gaskets.
2. Leave the unit open for 20 minutes. This will allow for the gaskets to expand to their normal size. If the appliance is left unused and closed for a long time the gaskets may deform.
3. Sometimes when the bag is quite full and the bag is inserted into the vac position, close the lid, the lid closing pushes the bag out a little. This causes it to sit outside the vac position. Remove bag and ensure there is at least 3" of space between the top of the food and the end of the bag. Wipe any food material at the top of the bag. Try a smaller portion.
4. Remove any wrinkles by gently stretching the bag along the sealing strip.
5. Make sure the open end of the bag is resting entirely inside the Vacuum Channel. Try to curve it down into the drip tray.
6. Check the bag for leaks. Seal the bag with some air in it. Submerge it in water and apply pressure. Bubbles indicate a leak. If the bag has a leak, a new bag is needed.
7. Place the textured side of the bag facing downward.
8. For best results, pre-freeze meat and fish for 1-2 hours before vacuum sealing in a FoodSaver ®Bag. This helps retain the juice and shape, and guarantees a better seal. If it’s not possible to pre-freeze, place a folded paper towel between meat or fish and top of bag, but below seal area. Leave paper towel in bag to absorb excess moisture and juices during vacuum sealing process.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend and he’s been vacuum sealing everything in sight. It’s incredibly annoying to me because he’s been vacuum sealing all my food products without needing to but he’s very happy because his avocados have never stayed greener. The product definitely does what it’s suppose to do and is user friendly. Quite possibly too user friendly…
I would recommend this to a friend!
