Good but doesn't last- damage easily by liquid

I bought a replacement for my first purchase which became rusty, moldy and non-functional due to moisture penetration beyond the removable liquid tray. A design improvement is needed to allow consumer to clean beyond the tray if the tray doesn't work.
I would recommend this to a friend!

While vacuuming any juicy or moist food it is recommended to pre freeze it for at least 1-2 hours before vacuuming. That will prevent additional liquid from getting into the unit. Is it also required to regular empty and clean drip tray as well as the see-through reservoir from the handheld sealer.

I got this for my husband. He works at a factory that makes cheese and they gifted him with a 10 pound brick of cheese. He wanted to break it down into smaller portions and keep it in good condition. He loves this! He is vacuum sealing everything he can get his hands on now. He enjoys the multi use of this sealer. The roll holder and cutter he loves. And he loves that you can seal the bags in a traditional manner. But his favorite is the resealable bags with the sealer attachment. He loves this option for the smaller packets of cheese that we like but don't eat a lot of right away.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Mine was vacuuming and it wouldn't stop. I tried powering it off but it wouldn't power off.
So I unplugged it. Now it won't come on at all. Completely dead.

I’ve gone through two of these

I bought this model about two years ago and within months I had so many times that it just was not sealed properly. Foolish me I purchased another and here I am less than a year later and the bags will not suction. It’s actually become a joke in a household but this thing is my enemy because I’m always cussing at it
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Here are some troubleshooting tips to try:
1. For units with removable gaskets, remove the lower gasket, turn it over and re-insert it into the track that runs around the vacuum channel. Also, check the other gasket.
2. It may be necessary to pre-freeze moist/soft food items to prevent moisture from compromising an effective vacuum/seal. These items include meats, fish, poultry, soft fruits, and blanched vegetables.
3. Test your FoodSaver by operating it without a bag. Allow the unit to complete the cycle. When the unit shuts off, lift the lid and gently touch the heat strip. If it is hot, please try to seal another bag.

A good multi use machine

This sealer is good for everyday household use. Not if you are freezing a lot of items at once. Needs time to cool. I am into food preserving and tend to make large purchases at once. or harvests from my garden. If you shop every week then this is an excellent sealer and easy to use. I have used Foodsaver brand for over 20 years.
