I have had this unit for several years now and use it almost daily for a wide variety of things. From breaking down bulk purchases into meal sized portions, resealing the 1 gallon ziplock bags, )which contain my grandson's chicken nuggets,) to vacuuming storage containers for marinating meats, or storing soups and other leftovers. Because of its relatively small footprint, it has its own place on my counters out of the way, but still easily accessible for daily use. I am extremely happy with it and definitely recommend it for others. In fact, I am looking to purchase one for my niece's wedding gift.

Not happy at all with this V4440 Food sealer

I bought this to replace my previous food saver which I loved. I would not buy this food saver again or recommend it to anyone else. It is very difficult to get the automatic vacuum and seal to work most of the time. I have to keep manipulating the bags until it finally works. The light will come on saying the liquid tray is full when it is not. I can empty it and replace it and it sometimes will still say it is full. Overall, very disappointed in this product.

I had the basic version and struggled to find the sweet spot to make the vacuum seal work properly. I am much happier with this unit

I’ve had a Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer since 1996. I’ve loved every one of them until I bought this one. It is the absolute worst product on the market. It waste bag material. There is no reason to have 1 inch leftover material after the seal. If I could return it I would. The last one I had was a FM5200 style. I had that for 6 years and used it at least 6 times a month for bulk purchases. It was fantastic. I would love to go back to it. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE UNLESS YOU LIKE TO SPEND MONEY ON BAGS.

Best thing since your Mama’s freezer paper .

I bought this Food Saver System yrs ago, can’t remember 10+ for sure. And it has been our go to for things you’d never think to use it for, not just meats & vegetables but to safety vacuum pack medical supplies that you know moisture can ruin. Corn meals etc., seems we’ve found many new uses over during our time with our unit. And should the time come it needs replacing we will , it’s more than paid for itself and the bags we used. Also we have many extra’s hard keepers and marinading, we tested one by putting a pack of buns in it vacuum it up & it set over a month before we opened it , to our surprise & delight they were as fresh as the day put in. No more freezing buns or bread unless they’re in these containers. Don’t try a bag with fresh baked loaves it sucks them flat to no return.

Sealing multiple bags at one time

We have had our vacuum seals for a few months. We use it mainly to seal meats we buy in bulk to freeze and cook later using our sous vide. The unit does a good job but we have one major complaint. When sealing multiple bags in succession, even waiting a several minutes between seals, the unit won't complete the vaccum seal. You have to let it cool down for a considerable time, like 10 minutes before it will seal the next bag. We usually seal about a dozen items when we use the unit. This is the one frustrting experience we have had with this product.

Great Features

I’ve had many Foodsaver brand sealers over the yrs & this model is my ultimate fave. I just ordered this model again because the exact one I have quit working tonight after several yrs of most times 2-3 days weekly usage. I wish this model would be around forever. The cabinet is so easy to keep clean because almost every bit of it is concealed so dust stays out & it looks really nice sitting out. So many features I love them all. Sealing, stainless brushed nickel finish/black matches kitchen, making bags, loading rolls, cutting, hidden drip tray, hidden bag rolls, canister sealing & marinating. I use all the features all the time. It works easily without going through a lot of steps like the newer models.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Frustrated and Disappointed

I have issued with my unit. Sometimes it doesn't do a good vacuum. Then after using it last week, I cleaned it and put away in cabinet. Pulled it out today to use and the drip tray will not open. It acts like it is glued shut! I have tried twice not to do an online chat since Foodsaver is not taking phone calls. The first chat, they told me to use a blowdryer to try to unseal, said they would wait since it would take about 5 minutes to go to other room and attempt this. I tried and it got plastic really hot but drawer would not budge. I came back to computer and the chat person was gone, so I got back in line on chat and went from number 5 in line to number 1 and then automatically went away with a message that I will receive a survey in 3-5 days. Well it absolutely will NOT be a good review!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
