I like this modle, my only criticism is that on the previous modle I had you could seal the bag from top to bottom by turning it the toher way and create "snack size" pouches that were only a couple inches wide. (This was when the cutter & sealer were together) I wish there was a way to still do this. (Or even snack sized bags available)

Quit Sealing

I've had this for several years. It quit completing the air suction part of the process within two years of purchasing - one day it worked perfectly, the next day it stopped. I've yet to get help. I've tried calling. I've tried sending an email. I've tried the FoodSaver group on Facebook which told me to replace gaskets and such but 1) none of them seem to be made for the model I have and 2) none of them appear to be in stock. I'm ready to toss the machine and find something else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It works just like the last one. In fact it's almost the same. My wife says it's a little quieter. Being a retired meat cutter, we use our food saver daily. I can't tell you how much it saves us. There are just the two of us, so things like bacon, sausage, cheese, and lunchmeat, never go bad. Keep the oxygen out, and most all of the bacteria goes with it. This is actually the third one we've owned. The first, my brother bought me back when they were sold on T.V. Took me a few years to realize what I had, but then we have personally kept the bag business going. The second one just got tired. Like my Dad said, if it runs, it will break. It still works enough that we kept it in case of emergency. Cutting meat is not rocket science folks, buy big and save a lot. In fact, I bet you if you ask your local meat cutter to teach you how to cut boneless cuts, he/she would. Then go in, ask him how much a whole muscle would cost, wether it's a boneless pork loin, or a whole ribeye, you will be amazed how much you will save. He can sell it that was a lot cheaper, because he has no labor, and he's guaranteed it's going to sell. Really, go buy one, and become a little more self proficient.

Hard to clean if any juices get sucked in...

At first this was great, but after 2 years of owning it I would not recommend. It's hard to clean and the bottom is easy to remove but the two spring based parts inside above the sealing tray get gunked up and don't work. Cleaning with a toothbrush helps but over time it goes bad and will no longer function correctly. I would not recommend at all due to this. You'll likely need to replace it within 2 years of regular use. Definitely going to avoid this model and ones like it.
