Fan failed, battery failed, motherboard failure (alt key not working). Horrible QC
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our business had 2 lenovo thinkpad Carbon X1's before purchasing this third one. The other two work great. The third has lots of issues....it shuts down programs randomly. Will stop playing or slow down videos almost to a stop. Seems to have a lot of issues so far. Not pleased considering we paid the price thinking lenovo was worth it.

I recently purchased a ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 (14"). I have found this laptop to be fantastic and would recommend it to anyone looking for an executive laptop that is light in weight to carry around that packs a ton of power and features under the hood running on the latest Windows 10 platform. I added an annual subscription of Office 365 and all my computer needs are taken care of.
This computer has been everything I have hoped for, the internals seem to be exceptional. It runs all office applications with ease. I don't run graphic applications so have no opinion on those, but am very impressed with it's quietness and lack of fan noise. The fingerprint reader option makes waking it up a breeze and am a huge fan of the built in privacy filter. I would highly recommend this machine, it is light, easy to plug in with the lightning pot and meets my needs.
I always wanted to upgrade my T series to the X1 Carbon. Its a really nice laptop; sleek body with great key action, very light and sturdy as they say. (yet to be tested since I don't plan on dropping this laptop anytime soon)
But for the price, I could comment on a few down sides, screen brightness is not too great with my 400 nits unit and battery life! is nothing like being advertised, it's nowhere close to 18.3 hours, think i get about 8-9 hours in 'power saving mode.' I'm even wondering if I received a defective model and will contact their customer service.
I would give it 4 stars but i have to give it 3 because there is actually a problem with my 'O' key. It gets stuck in the keyboard and is very annoying to type with. I created a ticket to get this resolved, wonder how their customer service is.
