Bad Side: Keyboard layout it ugly compare to my old X1 Gen 2. Fingerprint reader not detect my finger 3 on 4. UHD screen it a mirror, perfect for film, very bad to work when there is sunny day. Lenovo vantage prevents the X1 from going into hibernation mode, "very" old chipset graphic. Good Side: X1 Gen 7 it smaller and screen it almost the same size. Thunderbolt port 3, 720p Camera with lock mode, compatible with win10.Good amount of ports, very good sound. No real improvement between gen2 and gen7. It a Tank and it perfect for me for my business traveling in any weather condition around the world.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far I've been satisfied with this laptop. As mentioned in previous reviews the battery in the 4k version does not last as long as suggested. The screen is excellent and I rarely have it on full brightness as I do with every other laptop I've owned. One thing I have noticed is that the 4k screen is very sharp and the image is amazing, I do not use it to it's full potential. I could have been very happy with the 1080p screen and gained myself the extra battery life. The design is great. These have had the same keyboard layout for a very long time and I wouldn't change anything about it. With that super responsive track pad the pointer is a little redundant. Be prepared to purchase some sort of hub or docking station. There isn't any micro sd card slot or any sort of card reader on the laptop. I think that is a bit of an oversight, I couldn't bring myself to purchasing the lenova dock, very expensive and still missing a reader. A very good substitute is the UGREEN docking station. Plug and play. Also there isn't any ethernet port, it's not a huge problem, but when you do a lot of network related IT work, it is a bit cumbersome to pull a hub out everytime hardwire to a network. So far the performance is amazing, the build quality is superb, the light weight is terrific. The plastic chassis laptops are not worth it for me after experiencing this type of build quality. I cart this thing around everywhere I go and so far it hasn't complained a bit. I use it for work and personal use. I do everything from installing surveillance cameras to photoshop and video editing. In my opinion, this investment will last a long time. I'm just trying to figure out how to stop the space bar from squeeking. Anyhow, hopefully this helps out. The pros out way the cons on this machine by far. I will definitely look at purchasing another one of these over other laptops in the future. It is worth the extra money to purchase quality.

Very hard to wake up the computer. If the computer goes to sleep, holding the power button works sometimes and others it doesn’t.

This is a great laptop. Very fast, light weight and portable. Beside using for business, the family has also used it for virtual-social meetings and video streaming. It is very responsive, although the track mouse is a bit too sensitive for me, but I'll get used to it. .I was initially sceptical about the size, but the 14" screen has worked out just fine. In all, a very good buy
