After having the vac 4 mos the motor head went out. It kept shutting off the vacum. When I called I was told I had to send a video of the vacuum which I did. Then they told me they would send a new head which they did. I have had Dysons forever and had one quit after 3 years. They sent me a whole new vacum withthout queston! My sister talked me into this Shark when my daughter used my Dyson and let it get stolen .Why didnt Shark replace this vacum? Because its a cheaply made piece of junk. Do not buy! They will not replace it if it fails. The warranty is not good buy a Dyson!

Some good, some bad

I have had the Apex AZ1000W for almost a year. Good: powerful, I feel like it cleans great. I love the light. I have yet to need to clean the roller. Two dogs, lab and husky. It picks up their hair with no wraps and no clogging.
Bad: it's very heavy. When you detach the handle or the wand, the whole vac falls over with the least amount of stretch. Dyson does the same. Cleaned the foam filter. It fits over a metal cone filter, only it won't go back tight. I pushed on it to no avail. It wobbles, that can't be right. The manual is skimpy and poor. Needs a lot more pages. On the filter page, it shows the flat foam filter going under the tower filter in the top of the dust bun. No, the flat filter goes under the dust bin, not in it.

So bough this thing a little over a year ago and I really wanted to like it. It came with some great features but it is awful. It's heavy and so awkward to maneuver that your arms start to hurt vacuuming. I tried, thought I'd adjust to holding and using it, but no. Terrible, uncomfortable, poorly balanced machine.

I purchased a Shark® APEX® Upright Vacuum with Powered Lift-Away®, DuoClean® & Self-Cleaning Brushroll about 18 months ago. The two main reasons I chose this vacuum was that it lifts away so I can get under the beds in my house and hair is suppose to NOT get stuck in the brush. That is a great idea for the hair not to get stuck but it is untrue. I also have a Shark Navigator for upstairs. The APEX you cannot take the brush out of the head to clean it. The Navigator’s brush is much easier to clean. I am very disappointed in the APEX for this reason.
They do have another (newer) vacuum that is basically the APEX that has fin bar instead of a brush bar. Hmmm... I wonder if I can get a fin bar for my APEX and swap them out.
When you turn the APEX into a canister the vacuums heads motor is so strong that it doesn’t stay on the floor. Also, the attachments on the APEX do stay on as well as the Navigator.

About this vacuum when I moved into my house a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it. The only thing negative I have to say is that it does not do really thick rugs well. I love it so much I'm buying another one from my upstairs so I don't have to drag them up and down.

Picks up everything. Easy to empty - no fussing with caked up hair because of the cyclone action. Only complaint would be tool storage feels like an afterthought.
