Not good for pet hair on carpets or furniture

I bought this vacuum and thought the self cleaning roller brush would be great for pet hair. It works great in a a house without a lot of pet hair, but as others have reported, the roller clogs with pet hair. It is very annoying. I also find that there is no way to effectively clean stairs and I have two models of Shark vacuums. I use the powered attachment on my steps but it does not pick up well. I actually came to the shark site to see it there was another attachment that may work better. Additionally, it does not remove pet hair well from my sofa cushions. I wish I could find a vacuum that worked well for pets. I had a dyson and hated it especially for the money paid. I was hopeful shark would be my answer.
As far as design, I HATE how it is always tipping/falling over...so frustrating.

Constantly having issues with motor overheating

I’ve always owned Shark vacuums and this is the first model that has disappointed. I bought this due to hybrid flooring in our new house and within 2 months the first units’ motor went out. Shark sent a replacement motor and within a month, this motor also went bad. Shark then sent a new unit completely and now this one has stopped working. The filters are washed according to instructions after each use and there has been nothing other than two large area rugs and bedroom carpets cleaned. Also, as mentioned, we’ve never had issues with any other Shark vacuum. This vacuum is a great concept but has moved our family into the Dyson direction so as to not have to wash filters constantly and since we have received no resolution from the Shark company.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Falls over

Cons:
Can't use on throw rugs,
Constantly falls over when using handle with hose (top heavy) and if you disconnect the case from the base it is no longer in wheels and gets heavy lugging around and that falls over if you sit it on the floor to use the handle.
Extension hose is too stiff. doesn't extend well

Toes and feet have been hit numerous times due to vacuum falling over.
With our Dyson, the handle is able to be used and vacuum doesn't fall over, it also can go from throw rug to other floor surfaces.

Bad suction

I bought this vacuum for Christmas and it is probably the worst shark vacuum I have ever purchased I’ve owned shark vacuums for the last 10 years and it does not seem to have the sucking power that any of the other ones have had and I thought by upgrading to a more expensive and better grade of the shark that it would suck as good as the others did but I was wrong I am very disappointed in this product and it makes me feel like maybe I shouldn’t be purchasing shark vacuums anymore

Bought this model so we could take our 7 year old Rotator to our vacation home. Can’t say enough about how much we like this new one. Hair doesn’t build up on the rollers!!! Suction is a step above the Rotator. Really makes me question some of the less positive reviews!!! Only slight negative comment would be the stiffness of the house, but I’m sure it will relax some with more use. Just like the Rotator did. Great Job Shark!!!

Hose too short

The vacuum picks up well, but the hose for the attachments is way too short, causing the vacuum to tip over easily and sometimes onto your shins.

Buy a navigator instead

I bought this almost a year ago. I had a navigator before. I thought i was upgrading. I am seriously disappointed. I loved our navigator but hated cleaning the brush roll. With long hair and 2 dogs i thought i was making a great decision. I will never buy a shark again. It doesnt pick up like the navigator (which is half the cost)i have to go over the same spot multiple times. I have to clean the brushes every time i use it. I use it every other day. Major pain. It makes me sick to think how much i paid for this hunk of junk.

Best vacuum ever!

I bought this 2-3 years ago and it's still as awesome as the day I bought it. I hate cleaning and initially it was so awesome it made me excited to clean. That feeling wore off haha, but now my cleaning ladies love it! They all remark on how much it sucks up, and honestly I don't understand all the bad reviews. I don't have a single criticism, these people are just bitter.
