Had washer for less than 2 weeks...

Had washer for less than 2 weeks and it’s already broken. Won’t spin, needs new clutch. So after spending all that money, I am still without a washer for almost two weeks now waiting on parts to come in. Ridiculous.

Hi Kayctee, thank you for choosing this top load Smart washer for your home and for taking the time to share your review. We are sorry to hear that your washer is frequently off balance and for the inconvenience that this causes. We are happy to offer you some guidance in this! If you are finding that the basket seems loose, this movement is due to the auto balance suspension system that allows the tub to move freely to withstand out of balance situations. Unbalanced loads can cause the washer to vibrate more and, in this case, you may want to stop the machine and redistribute the load. - Additionally, the more the washer legs are extended, the shakier the washer will be during operation. If your washer is significantly rocking during operation, the leveling legs may be uneven and adjusting all four leveling legs until the washer is level left-to-right and front-to-back will ensure that the unit is stable. You can find tips and a video of leveling your washer in the following support article: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17445. We sincerely hope that this information is helpful for you and thank you again for your feedback. All the best! -Eliza@GEA

It broke

It broke after 8 months of use. Attempted to fix while under warranty and took ~3 months to reach a successful conclusion (replacing the washer entirely). Overall a bad experience.

Difficult to select normal settings

Difficult to select normal settings and using the automatic detergent dispenser. Can't tell if it is actually adding the detergent and there seems to be an extra step to add fabric softener. Why do you need to select extra fill to dispense fabric softener??? Also not sure if it added enough water. Maybe that is a smart feature - the manual says something about leaving the lid open??? Operating it is just frustrating!!!

Hello - We are sorry you have difficulties operating your washer. SmartDispense™: When selected, this feature will automatically add detergent to the wash, eliminating the need to add detergent for each load. The detergent amount selection on the control panel will default to AUTO when first powering up the washing machine. When AUTO is selected, the amount of detergent needed for each laundry load will automatically be determined based on the size of the load the machine senses. Liquid fabric softener/conditioner should be added to the small drawer in the rear of the washer opening. You will need to select deep rinse to make sure the fabric dispenser is released during rinse cycle. This top loading washer uses load sensing and adaptive water fill to provide just the right amount of water for best performance and low water usage. The wash basket will turn briefly and assess the weight of the load. It will also do this after the load is saturated with water to assess how absorbent the load is. With the load weight and load type we can apply the proper amount of water to wash the load. The the lid must be closed for the washer to start cycle. We hope this helps. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly via social media. Thanks for the feedback. Olga@GEA

Nice surprise

I recently moved and had to look for a washer in stock at my dealer for immediate delivery. I was pleased to find a GE washer available and it was a new style High Efficiency with agitator model. I am familiar with the industry and knew G.E. to have a good record with its current line up. The new machine also fit a need for more moderate dimensions given my narrower than normal staircase to basement's utility room. Bonus. The new machine has been working a lot for me. I had a lot of damaged clothes and bedding from a bad move. They had to be washed and the machine has performed well. It is quieter than expected. The HE preset cycle controls work well. I have had to only twice add a little water with Deep Fill ,the extra water control and feature. The machine is quieter than I would have imagined given its powerful spin out rate. The electronic controls are new for me, but they are intuitive and well laid out logically. The many options for water temps are a blessing as I'm told Winter time cold water temps can be too cold for detergents to work properly, especially here in Wisconsin. I have not used the wifi or the water outlet feature yet but I'm going to set up the wifi connection shortly. I'd like to know when the cycle is finished before going downstairs to the machine. The machine seems very solid and well made. I expect a good lifespan from it. I would buy the machine again, Covid availability or not as a concern. I recommend it without a reservation.

Terrible machine
on November 4, 2021

This is the worst washer mashing ever. It has a giant well but will only put in enouwater to wash a few pairs of jeans unless I put it on max fill, which is not recommended. Why? It is so deep I have to use bbq tongs to reach down inside to get the clothes out. On top of that, it goes out of balance very easily and the machine has a conniption as if it’s going to bounce across the floor. I have to quick run, hit pause, rearrange everything and start over. I can not go out while the washer is on since it can’t be trusted to cycle seamlessly.

Hello- We are very sorry to hear you are unhappy with your washer. We can understand your frustration when a new appliance doesn't meet your expectations and apologize for the issues you are having.
Note: Max fill is perfectly fine if you feel it is needed.
All GE Appliances washer tubs move freely within our exclusive auto balance suspension system. It is a rod and spring floating suspension, designed to withstand extensive out of balance situations without the need for an "out of balance" switch.
During an out of balance load, the basket is allowed to "float" forward and backward, side to side, and up and down, yet it never touches the floor nor is it even connected to the floor. As a result, the clothes basket can move freely, and this is normal. If you have any questions in the future, reach out to us. We are here for you. Joyce@GEA

Agitator Issues
on January 30, 2022
Posted by: Disappointed in Idaho
from Boise, Idaho
The agitator had issues from day 1. They ordered new parts and came out to fix it a couple weeks later. While they were trying to replace the agitator a bolt was sheared off. Now waiting for an additional part to fix that piece! Purchased the washer mid December and it's barely end of January. So, I have a machine not working and a ton of laundry to do. They have no idea when this piece will even be in stock. I can't rate many of features because I haven't been able to use it.
