Bought two new ones this year and neither work. Won’t spin and drain. Constant cancel errors. Have to rerun loads multiple times.

Heed Our Out Of Balance Warning
on October 5, 2020

I didn't read reviews before I purchased this and I wish I had. The service technician that came out to my house told me this is a new design for GE - assume he knows what he is talking about. My washer stopped "working" after 9 months. The "piece" that switches the tub from agitate to spin is broken - maybe because I suffer the same protracted out of balance issues other people are complaining about. It is being repaired under warranty - so I am hoping that maybe the repair fixes the root cause of the balance issue. I can usually get an extremely full load to wash/spin - but if I try to wash one towel and 2 sets of sheets (1/3 load) it will never spin dry. The other annoying thing that another reviewer mentioned was when you reach your frustration level and manually unload and re-balance the load then put the washer on spin the VERY first thing it does is put two bursts of water into the tub / start the pump to pump out any water - but the putting water back in when you are tired and just want the load wrung out is really annoying.

Unreliable spin cycle

I have owned this machine for five months and have had a repairman here three times. The machine will not spin properly when only half full with towels. I did everything suggested, including deep fill and adding extra water and adding drain/spin. I think I have a lemon. I was told I’d hear from customer care within 48 hours October 7. Nada.

Faulty out of the box

We originally ordered new Maytags, got the dryer but COVID kept delaying delivery of the washer. After a month of transferring carfuls of laundry to other people’s homes, we settled for this washer/dryer that was in stock at #SargentAppliance...and let me tell you, we SETTLED BIGTIME. Yes I have a service appointment scheduled...for a month away-thanks again COVID.
-Balance sequence before wash and spin consists of several minutes of loud banging, regardless if you distribute clothes evenly
-Frequently shuts down with no warning during balancing
-More frequently throws “Canceled” code immediately after starting wash cycle then shuts off leaving clothes wet and soapy AND there is no rinse cycle on the knob so you need to either run another wash cycle with no detergent or hand rinse in your laundry tub
-Failed the second time we used it
-Too much “technology” for the simple task of washing clothes
Every other appliance in my home is GE.

I hate this washing machine!

Biggest waste of money! Clothes aren’t clean. Stupid options for someone who just wants to clean clothes. Always off balance no matter load size or contents! The only thing I hate more is the GE dryer I bought.

Balancing issues..complicated and excessive cycle options that seem to be manufacturer attempts to solve undesirable flaws. Fingers are crossed for now, but foresee maintenance or replacement as it continues to ROCK and BANG which results in hand wringing DRENCHED laundry

Hi Dambuth - Thanks for sharing your feedback and giving us a chance to help. If you are finding some of the clothes are wet, it's possible the incorrect cycle was selected. We suggest making sure the cycle selected matches the load you are washing. Some fabrics will feel wetter when rinsed with cold water. Also, the wash load may have been out of balance. You can redistribute the load in your washer and then run through the Drain & Spin cycle. We hope this helps! - Sharon@GEA

Hate it ! Doesn’t spin down most of the time. Bought a leveler and still won’t spin down. Small loads. Large loads. I’ve had to take out clothes in order for it to spin down. Even with one blanket it won’t spin. I’ve placed it at Max spin and still don’t spin down.
It’s a piece of $9ap. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Out of balance
on May 26, 2020
Posted by: bhv0721
We were so hopeful for this washing machine, but it just doesn't meet our needs well. Any time we try to wash a blanket or towels, the machine goes out of balance and does not spin properly. We've tried the spin and rinse cycle to correct this and it works about half the time. We've tried manually redistributing the laundry and that works about half the time. We've tried the bulky items setting and that works about half the time. The end result is that we have to babysit our laundry to ensure it spins out, and we spend more time (and likely more water) to finish loads with heavier items. We should note that the machine does well on loads with just clothing.
