just okay

My books were detailed and balanced and had mapped tax fields in Quickbooks -- should have been a slam dunk, but the taxes just wouldn't balance. After spending time renaming accounts to specifically match the items on the 1120s form, I then hand typed in the correct amounts in each field and finished my taxes. I learned a LOT about tax prep, but this was no way automatic.
What's great about it: The forms were easy to type, print and file
What's not so great: poor job of pulling in data from QBs

Clear, concise, step by step organization. Explanations are available. Support staff are outstanding. Next year I will use Quick Books which will integrate with TT.
Prior year prepared in TT is presented in current year.
What's great about it: Interface with software. Organization of step by step. Ease of use.
What's not so great: No Mac application for TT Business.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Major Help!

It would take untold HOURS to complete all the completely unnecessary forms that the IRS requires with a program such as Turbo Tax. That said, I'm absolutely positive of my income, expenses & capitol contributions yet I can't get Turbo Tax's Balance Sheet & Profit & Loss forms to agree with mine.
What's great about it: step by step asked the right questions & then used the info to complete all the unnecessary IRS forms
What's not so great: I'm absolutly positive of my income, expenses & capitol contributions yet I can't get TT's BS & PL to agree

Software not up to standard.

I have used TurboTax successfully for about 6 returns in the past. Last spring, I found that part of your Business software asked for information decisions without providing ANY INFORMATION as to what the technical names designated, nor the resultant consequences of each selection. Due to time constraints, I filed extensions for all of my tax returns, because your software that i purchased was inadequate for accurate filing.
I now see that you have made some corrections of errors, however, your software blocked my ability to e-file, because it demanded reconciliation of balance sheet data that I am not required to file (according to your software), and for which I have entered no data.
Your current software requires study of IRS materials and knowledge of accounting processes that have never been previously necessary. Not up to your prior standards.
What's not so great: Blocked e-filing due to software errors.

Easy 1120S Filing

Overall a great program. I chose to pay a little more than the cost of TaxAct because of the confidence I have in TurboTax getting things correct. Might have saved a few dollars with TaxAct - but peace of mind is worth the additional $80 or so dollars.
One of my favorite components is how easy it is to file from last year's return. TurboTax imported the information I needed and guided me to change the values for this year.
My only downfall is my own failure to organize and plan. Can't blame TurboTax for that - it definitely helped guide me through my list of expenses and identify where to categorize items.
What's great about it: Easy to import last years data.
What's not so great: Would like to see the forms before the end of the process.

Good Software

I liked turbotax best when it was possible to drill down into the tax code. These days it's simpler but not as smart. I miss being able to research while I work on my taxes and find the community help to be less than useful. I wish Turbotax would link up to the tax code again for ease of access. I can get there myself, but the old way was way better.
What's great about it: Easy to complete taxes
What's not so great: More difficult to access detailed info than past years
Pros: I moved
