PA Fiduciary Return
on March 26, 2019
Posted by: PAdisappointed1
PA tax laws pertaining to Fiduciary returns are substantially different from federal tax laws. The turbo tax product has significant lack of knowledge of PA. More often that not turbo tax refers user to PA instructions for help with little or no help content of its own.
What's great about it: Step by step to aid entry
What's not so great: Poor intergation the PA tax laws

Look this will be short and to the point. The team at intuit has talked me off the ledge several times during my first time filing in a longtime. I can say no more except to say THANK YOU and if the country were not in the shape we are in give a big hug. So heart felt TY
See you next year.

I was able to complete corp tax return in less than one day since I was using QuickBooks. It was relatively easy and I saved $1350 that I paid tax preparer last year.
What's great about it: Able to do my own corp tax return
What's not so great: Not able to consult with anyone

Been using Turbotax for many years. If you have a fairly simple return, this beats going to the store front tax preparers. The key is to keep all your tax related items in one place throughout the year (as you collect them) in order to breeze through the Step-By-Step walk through.
What's great about it: Step-by-step walk through
What's not so great: Answers to questions could be more detailed if further explanation is needed.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easier than H&R - year 2
on April 10, 2019
Posted by: RetsyB
I switched to TT from H&R Block because they didn't handle partner distributions well at all. Items could fall thru the cracks and editing involved scrolling thru a huge spreadsheet form to change info. Turbo Tax is much better at handling all income and deduction items, and making sure the totals are correct and only entered in the one place. Documentation is much better, too. The only con - minor - is having to enter multiple items one at a time, like contributions or assets. It would be easier to fill in a list and copy and paste the fields that repeat.
What's great about it: Distributing items among partners is easy
What's not so great: Too many clicks in a few places

amended return
on April 21, 2019
Posted by: j181
had to file amended return for trust due to late K1 form. TT could not e-file. But worse, did not give instructions on how or where to file by mail. And TT had zero help on how to amend state 1041 form. Very disappointed.
What's great about it: zero pros
What's not so great: no instructions for how to file, zero help on state form
