Turbo Tax Live support over phone is worth it!

Turbo Tax is easy but the taxes themselves are very tough. Calling Tax Live support which is free with purchase of software is a value in itself.

FAST AND EASY

The process seemed easier this year than in the past (been using TurboTax for over 7 years) My only disappointment is the business (S-Corp) does not link to the personal which would make it much easier.

I have been using TTBusiness for maybe ten years, and I keep going back to it. I like the fact that you can still pick and choose the sections you wish to work on, and I hope that Intuit don't switch over to Interview Mode for the business software. However, isn't it about time that they made this available for MacOS?

Many failures to transfer amounts 041 to state

Many amounts entered in the interview, while correctly being placed in the Federal Form 1041 filing, fail to be transferred to the state Form 2 Massachusetts

I'm glad the software helped in filing all required forms and statements; however, I was disappointed about a few things. The user experience was not flawless (some software bugs) and this is a very concerning thing given I'm filing my taxes! For example: I was unable to change my answer to "no" for whether the S corp loaned to shareholders. Unintuitively, I needed to go to the forms mode and zero out all instances of the loan amount manually before the prompts were correct. Another concern was the language in the prompts telling me that I needed to file for my state as well. I live in Michigan, and the prompts indicated I needed to purchase another product; however, Michigan, as expected was not in the product list since Michigan does not require a return for S corps. Consistent language in the prompts would have me feeling more secure about whether or not TurboTax is working as expected. Lastly, when printing off my forms before and after e-filing, I did not see my signature on form 8543-S. This is concerning, and I hope the correct form was sent to the IRS! I won't know until later though!
I'm not sure why I purchased the TurboTax, I mostly ended up reading the instructions on my own to ensure everything was correct, and I did not save the time and headache I had hoped. Though now I am beginning to see that there is definite room for improvement in the industry and hopefully Turbo sees this and improves.
