Not always straightforward

Turbotax was not very friendly for our specific tax situations. I constantly had to go back and re-enter information. Also, some of the explanations were not complete or lacked helpful information

Gets it done though unclear about correctness

I've been using TurboTax for years. Software is great for very simple returns. Unfortunately, not everything is simple in a business. TurboTax does not instill confidence. There is also a lack of detail in the state product - it just says you check it to make sure it's correct - well, that's what I have your software for - to let me know if I'm putting the right stuff in the right places! I have a low degree of confidence, but I don't want to pay $1,500 to have my business return done.

Straightforward for the most part

TurboTax Business (for sub S Corp) was straightforward and explained most things well on the Federal return. There are still some places that assume a knowledge level of accounting and tax law that the average small business owner may not have. The State return was considerably more difficult to navigate. Explanations were sparse, if at all present. The program also continued to come up with a paged flagged for either something incomplete or something which could flag an audit; however it did not show what the error was or how to correct it. The highlighted data entry box was for the name of the corporation, which was correct. The rest of the page contained no calculations or numbers, so miscalculation wasn't an issue. It was a frustrating waste of time attempting to figure out what was wrong. I finally closed the program and opened it again; at that point, TurboTax said there were no flags or errors!
