Why not complete Program for Personal & Business
on March 3, 2019
Posted by: ConProp
Don't like all of the different downloads, should be One program to cover all needs - Business & Personal filing and state filing include - One package = one download
Keep it simple
What's great about it: Worked like the last years
What's not so great: Skipped over require state return to be print

Missing Quick books online integration
on March 3, 2019

Biggest glaring issue is my business uses QB online. Business turbo tax software doesn't support importing from QBO. We had to manually enter all expenses. Had we known this before, we wouldn't have bought turbo tax software, instead approached local accountant.

State Tax Filing
on March 3, 2019

The California state filing module continues with the error of having to check the box of "disregarded entity"
Very frustrating that this is not resolved for such a simple tax concept

Need better integration for small corporations
on March 3, 2019
Posted by: displacedoldguy
Like many people displaced from traditional long term career positions by today's mode of doing business, I have a very small consulting business that is a C corporation. I tried running my business with quickbook pro and doing the taxes with turbotax business to file US Federal and VA state taxes. These products need to be integrated better, primarily with the workflow of filing forms. among other things, filing W-2 with the Feds and VA was too difficult. Finally went to VA eforms site and just retyped the data. I think next year I will go back to a CPA and have the professional do the taxes just to avoid electronic filing hassles. Yes it will cost me three times the amount (which is why I decided to try to do it myself), but my time is worth money. Even though my business is truly simple (no owned equipment, no cost of inventory / products, don't need a balance sheet -- just one monthly invoice and payment with a couple of W-2s), the filing process is not.
What's great about it: Review of turbotax Business; import of accounting data from Quickbooks worked generally well
What's not so great: Need better integration with QuickBooks Pro and electronic filing requirements / process
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax Good; QuickBooks Import Bad
on March 3, 2019
Posted by: Bergs1234
Do not rely on the automatic import from QuickBooks. It took me about 5 hours without the import to complete and file my LLC/partnership return. Not too bad.
On the other hand, it took me about 5 days to figure out that the import feature was hopelessly flawed. Not that I'm bitter or homicidal about it or anything. My fluffy toy kitten will protect me. Purrrrr.
What's great about it: Not too painful.
What's not so great: Import from QuickBooks floats like a brick
Pros: I moved

Pricey and Vague
on March 4, 2019
Posted by: FlyinLion
There are too many vague instructions that will drive you crazy. Some instructions are written for a 3rd grader and other instructions require an MBA in accounting.
What's great about it: Step by step instructions
What's not so great: Too many vague forms and questions. Price continues to go up.
