It did the job
on July 14, 2020

I only had to file for a special needs trust 1041 so this software was probably overkill. Compared to regular Turbotax it's too expensive, state is extra (!!!) and there doesn't seem to be a way to see what is owed without printing returns to a PDF. It did the job and calculations basically matched mine and even came in a little lower but it filled out all those laborious forms! I think the IRS is in cahoots with these tax software companies. I was filling out by hand, got through the fed form and then gave up on NYS. Add 1041s to Home and Business!

Desktop only, so not compatible w/ Quicken Online

It works out, but a lot more clunky. There is no integration between the online vs of Quick Books, so you have to hand jamb things. Carryover loss isn't integrated, so you'll need to input in Other business expenses if this is your first year.

Return Filed With Errors
on July 14, 2020

I like TurboTax for corporations but I just discovered that the return I filed three months ago had an error so it was rejected and I didn't know it. The corporate system seems to be more error prone than individuals.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Better than doing it by hand
on July 14, 2020

What TurboTax needs to make it less frustrating to use is an explanation of how it arrives at the calculated numbers. The "add supporting details" it gives us to use for our own input numbers is needed to explain it's own populated numbers. And more thorough testing. There are too many instances of when numbers are input in the step by step interview that they do not change all the places in the forms they should change. Why does when my balance sheet in the step by step interview for example, balance, but the balance sheet on my form does not? These numbers should match in both places. I have much less confidence submitting my taxes because of this. Still better than doing taxes by hand.

I had no indication that state was not included which puts me in a horrible position. Bought business program & audit protection with no idea!
