Still Needs Tweeking

What is Total Income for a Trust? Is that the combination of what dividends? Interest? etc. Other questions need explanation, not all questions are understandable.

TurboTax is adequate.

TurboTax gets the job done, but it's a headache. When you run into a problem and request support, the people are friendly and helpful. That's the best part of TurboTax - the people. The program, however, is another matter. Too often you are confronted with inexplicable redundancies, or inexplicable questions, the help boxes for which are worthless. The user interface is unpredictable, so that sometimes you answer questions by, for instance clicking a button, and a similar question requiring an actual numerical input, even though the information requested in each instance is similar and governed by the same regulation. And to get the same output twice in a row after doing 2 different returns with similar data never happens. The programmers are not consistent, and it's not clear that they actually know anything about US taxes.

Why isn't it integrated into the website?

I've used Turbotax for at least 10 years. I didn't have to start using the business piece until last year due to the creation of an LLC. The software itself is great, but the integration with the personal info is not intuitive. Why can't it be another tab on the website? And now the names are so confusing that I had to get a rep to help me know which one to buy this year, because I couldn't find the desktop version. I didn't need help for the taxes... just which software to buy. That should tell you something. I love your products, but this has been such a bad experience with Business that I might just pay someone to do it next year. It was a huge time waste and fairly expensive by the time you pay for Business and personal.

Not perfect but made it work

Some estate entries are not intuitive but thanks to help and google, figured it out. It also auto-calculated 6 different form fields as zero, and flagged that as errors, wouldn't let me change the fields and forced me to not use electronic filing. Oh well - it's done...
