Cheaper than a CPA

I got TurboTax Business when I had trouble getting a CPA in time to beat the March 15 deadline. Also, since I had a CPA do my first filing the previous year it gave me something to go by this year.
I kind of wish they made an online version of this product since I don't really need it on my computer, but it didn't cause me a problem.
For the most part this program is fairly easy to use and self-explanatory, but in a few spots it offered no help on some unfamiliar entries, especially on some optional entries on deductions or unusual tax issues.
I use QuickBooks online and TurboTax does not link to it. So I could not export my data to TurboTax. That forced me to copy all the totals from QB to TurboTax.
Overall I found the program easy to navigate and it allowed me to file a return after spending about 5 or 6 hours massaging my QB data and answering the prompts in Turbo. It definitely save me some money, even after counting purchase of the state program I needed.

K-1s lumped together

A few problems with this year's version:
Explanations of new tax forms were inadequate.
PDF option for K-1s did not separate forms for different shareholders.
When I tried to buy my state tax software, I could not update my credit card in my account. There were no menu items I could use on the website.

What's not so great: The only way to print the K-1s as pdfs put them all in one file, so I couldn't mail individual copies to the shareholder

Confusing error messaging

I received a number of error messages, but after rerunning the program nothing was found. Perhaps safe is better than sorry???

Great Program

I have used the program for years, so I know what the completed return should look like. We had property installment sales which I usually enter directly on form 6252. This may be difficult for a novice. I save thousands of dollars a year by doing my own returns.
What's great about it: Saves a lot of money in accounting fees.
What's not so great: Moderate knowledge of business accounting is necessary.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax Business Areas for Improvments

Most of Tax software have one to one match for the Tax Forms received from the financial institutes. TurboTax Business doesn't have that capability. Users do not know were to input all the data from Form 1099-B.
Also, TurboTax Business doesn't have capabilities to down load the Form 1099-B from the Stock Brokers and Banks.

What's great about it: Carry forward the data from the last years return.
What's not so great: Can not download Form 1099-B form Stock Brokers

Could not efile because of some errors that could not be corrected

What's not so great: answering no on a question would not remove the requirements that needed to be answered if you answered yes

Turbo Tax made filing my 1120s simple, however I did have to find a dinosaur windows computer to do it as we have all Mac products. Please have a Mac download for 2019 for Business Software :)
What's great about it: Fast and Easier Than Expected
What's not so great: No Mac Product
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

First Time - Good Experience

I thought this program was well worth it. The only thing I wish they had was additional information on examples or references for certain parts I was confused on - mainly forms. Otherwise it was great for my first time!!!
What's great about it: Step by Step process makes it easy to get it complete, user friendly
What's not so great: Wish it had more explanation or examples for first time users to refer to
