TurboTax Business

Very good product. It could do a better job of explaining the errors that were found in the return. It did point out the errors, but gave no clue as to what was the issue.

I found it difficult & frustrating to balance
on April 18, 2020

I'm a business-owner, not accountant, but I self-prepare the 1120S using software like Turbotax Business (TTB) (annual miserable experience). TTB is very professionally made but is difficult and seems to me to have errors. Its really hard to balance it so its really frustrating. Employee salaries & wages is a problem since those end up in COGS & also counted again on deductions page. I guessed to remove it from Deductions page. TTB
added subcontractor COGS labor to w-2 labor on form 199A near very end of 1120S (wrong!). Also Retained Earnings is not carried from form M2 to Sch.L, you have to enter it on balance sheet first. Took lots of frustrating going around in circles. You need to switch to forms to get it in balance. Interest income I dont know what happened to it, it did not appear in income, so I just removed the interest income. Turbotax reads quantities & tax categories from QB automatically, except it didn’t read in all of them so it took longer to find those few that are missing than it would have to just type all the quantities in. The 1120S doesnt define COGS Inventory item Purchases the same way as QB so you have to change those values that it read in from QB. So there is a lot of correcting and fussing to do after TTB reads in quickbooks. On the plus side it asks for this review. But on the whole I will go back to using H&R Block for Business which is no piece of cake either but the devil you know....
