Great Tax Software for Trusts!

TurboTax Business 2019(PC Download) performed as advertised for my trust. Purchase on-line and download were simple and swift. After download and entry of purchased license number, answering questions and providing data were straight forward. Loved the error free reassurance it gave me at the end of data submission.

Turbotax Business requires some more work

The Virginia State tax return, that has to be paid for separately, was poorly programmed by TurboTax, and failed to properly explain what would need to be added to the automatically generated VA tax forms. It requested that a non-existent form be attached by the user and provided no help as to what the form was for and what it needed to contain. After something over an hour on the phone with two help line people plus about an hour gap it turned out that I needed to attach a TurboTax generated worksheet for Net Operating Loss usage. Firstly, TurboTax could have done the transfer itself within the program and secondly, if it did not want to then it could have at least explained what worksheet needed to be attached. Once it became clear what sheet was needed, as opposed to the cryptic reference to "F500P1" requested by TurboTax, the actual task took 30 seconds. My long experience with Turbotax is that when things get a little complex they cut corners and either tell the user to read some publication or tell you that you are on your own. On the plus, side, when these issues do arise - pretty much every year, the helpdesk usually comes through with an answer, eventually.

Turbo tax business is OK.

I do appreciate being able to file using Turbo Tax Business instead of hiring an accountant. However, I would appreciate more online help info relevant to trusts.

Some difficult transitions between step by step interview method and switching to forms method. Sometimes forms will not let you enter data manually.

Good tool ... needs a tweek

TurboTax is a good tool, but as with all, it could stand improvement. The latest and last, as it happens, aggravation is that the Federal Review process does not catch all the errors and omissions that the final transmit review catches. I had to go back, after printing a lengthy document, to make $0 entries where a blank line had been accepted earlier.
