Going Down Hill

I purchased the 2019 Federal and California Fiduciary software and I found the quality of the product to be substandard when compared to prior years. The software did not print out the statements that it created for the beneficiaries, The QBI portion was skipped on the interview even though the box was checked, the California version skipped right over the adjustments so you had to notice this and enter them yourself. Very poor quality control and to put salt in the wound, they raised the price for the poor quality.

works for a trust, but could be improved

For a complex trust, it got the job done, but is expensive for this purpose. I had to manually enter data from the brokerage firm 1099's. The program should be able to download these from the brokerage (Fidelity) like regular TurboTax does. It also would be nice if it were available for Mac OSX, like regular TurboTax. If some version of regular TurboTax could do a 1041 for a trust like this, that would be way better than having a separate program.

Buying TurboTax for Small Busness, LLC

TurboTax makes it really difficult to purchase the CD/Download version. I had to hunt all over to find it. Why be so difficult? Not everyone wants all their data "in the cloud".

Several MAJOR errors in software

There were two very significant errors in the step-by-step questionnaire which led to the return for a grantor trust being WRONG. I had to manually enter the information into the returns. Turbotax is investigating how to fix the errors. I can only wonder how many incorrect returns have been filed to date.
The state product (mass) was totally useless. The step-by-step did not include many of the relevant fields and did not allow others to be filled in. again, had to manually enter all of the information on the forms themselves. I could have done that without TT.

Been using TurboTax since it originated with ChipSoft; starting to get a little confusing probably due to IRS revisions and added questions in the software.

TurboxTax Business

I was expecting it more like TurboTax Home and Business showing how much I needed to pay or receive and more interaction. I was not expecting to pay again for state since I paid for state in Home and Business. I was able to get through it and file. Lucky for me, I expect this is the last year I will need to use it. Since this was for a trust, it did not follow the business profile. Was hoping I could download from Schwab for my investments like Home and Business. Questions below do not mention trust.
